  • WHEN TURNED ON, AN ERROR E98 IS DISPLAYED ON THE INDICATOR OF THE DEVICE
Error E98 means that the monitor memory is full. Reprogram the device according to the instruction manual.
AT THE END OF THE MEASUREMENT, THE INDICATOR SHOWS “PAUSE”

This measurement is successful. It will be saved in the recorder memory and displayed in the BPLabWin report. If you want the blood pressure data to be displayed on the device indicator after each measurement, you need to put a check-box in the "show measurement results" line in the BPLabWin software in the settings / user settings / study plan section.

AFTER REPAIR THE DEVICE STOPPED COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPUTER

The error occurs because the monitor's firmware is updated after the repair. To eliminate this problem, you need to update the BPLab software.

NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE COMPUTER WHEN USING THE COM PORT

Check if the COM port on your computer is working properly. This can be performed by connecting some other device to it.

If everything is okay with the COM port (95% of all cases) the problem might be with the communication cable (out of order), or the device is faulty. Contact a service technician who will explain to you how to fix the problem on site or advise on how to send the equipment for repair.

To contact the specialist please fill in the feedback form.

NO COMMUNICATION WITH COMPUTER WHEN USING USB PORT

Check if the USB port on your computer is working. This can be done by connecting some other device to it.

Reinstall the USB cable driver. FTDI driver is used for the USB cable of the BPLAB monitor. You can find it on the disk included in the package in the UTILS \ FTDI folder, or from the "Software update" section.

    Update BPLab software.

THE DEVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE THE PRESSURE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE MEASUREMENT

The problem is that one of the elements of the pneumatic system is leaking air. This can be checked on site. If everything is in order with the hoses and cuffs, the device must be sent for repair. If the hose or cuff is leaking air, then it's time for you to renew the consumables.

    ERROR E70 / E73

It is necessary to update the monitor firmware.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE SIMPLE, NOT RECHARGEABLE, AA BATTERIES FOR MONITORING

You can use the batteries. since the blood pressure monitor is a high-tech equipment, when working with it, use only high-quality batteries, with an intact insulating layer.

Testing of disposable alkaline batteries in our testing laboratory has shown that some batteries that are advertised by manufacturers as "high energy" (eg Energizer Max Power Seal or GP Extra) do not actually provide sufficient charge and load capacity for use in a 24-hour BP monitor. This is due to the fact that the conditions for using batteries in a 24-hour blood pressure monitor differ from their more traditional use (for example, in digital cameras). In particular, in the ambulatory blood pressure monitor, a significant compressor starting current has a great influence on the battery operation.

We recommend to use the following batteries in BPLab devices: Energizer Maximum Power Boost, GP Ultra Plus, Duracell Professional MN1500, Duracell Turbo Max MX1500, Varta High Energy, Varta Max Tech, Alkalistic (IKEA) ...

Attention! One set of batteries can only be used once, after which the used batteries should be disposed of!

Attention! Only use alkaline batteries. When using cheap salt batteries, there is a high probability of leakage of electrolyte from the batteries, which leads to the failure of the device! The breakdown of the device due to the leakage of electrolyte from the batteries is not a warranty case!

WHAT RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR USE

We recommend to use new generation Ni-MH batteries with reduced self-discharge current:

  • Ansmann Max-E (2100 mAh) or Ansmann Max-E PLUS (2500 mAh)
  • GP ReCyko + 210AAHCB (2050 mAh)
  • Varta Ready2Use (2100 mAh)
  • These batteries can be recharged up to 1000 times and at the same time come pre-charged, ready to use.

Conventional batteries are susceptible to self-discharge as they lose a significant amount of energy during storage. The recommended batteries retain 80% of their energy after being charged for a year. No special chargers are required for them.

CAN I CHANGE THE BATTERIES DURING MONITORING

Yes, you can. Before changing the batteries please make sure that the clock of the device shows the correct time, turn off the monitor, change the batteries, turn it on and make sure that the clock is working properly.

WHY SOMETIMES THERE IS NOT ENOUGH BATTERY CHARGE FOR THE ENTIRE MONITORING PERIOD

    1. Loss of battery capacity

If the problem appears after a long enough period of monitoring, the reason is most likely a loss of battery capacity. If you have been using batteries for more than 1 year, you should replace them.

You can try to restore the capacity of the batteries. To do this, install the batteries in the charger and carry out 3-4 full discharge - full charge cycles in a row.

If the problem appears immediately after starting the monitoring process or when using new batteries, the reason is probably that the batteries have lost their capacity because they have not been used for a long time (for example, if they have been in a warehouse for a long time). In order for the batteries to acquire the required capacity, it is required to carry out 3-4 discharge-charge cycles, as described above.

    2. Incorrect size or application of the cuff

If the problem appears immediately after starting the monitoring process, the reason is most likely in the incorrect selection of the cuff size and its application. When the cuff is applied loosely, the operating time of the compressor increases and, as a result, the batteries are discharged faster. In addition, with a loosely applied cuff, the comfort of the study deteriorates, and the number of unsuccessful measurements increases (in the study protocol, messages “cuff disconnected”, “measurement time exceeded 2 minutes” prevail).

It is also well known that when a large cuff is applied to a thin arm, the blood pressure measurement result is underestimated by 20 mm Hg. Art. It is easy to check the tightness of the cuff during monitoring by evaluating the pumping time in the "signals" mode. The time it takes to increase the pressure in the cuff by 120 mm Hg. Art., should not exceed 10 seconds.

When the cuff is too tight, pinched tube messages prevail.

    3. Patient behavior

If the measurement has low validity (percentage of successful measurements), it can also be due to the patient's behavior. You can easily assess the patient behavior during monitoring by reviewing the native blood pressure measurement curves (oscillograms).

If the patient behaves incorrectly during measurements (moves, moves his hand, strains his arm), then the energy consumption from the batteries increases for the following reasons:

  • The duration of each measurement is increased because of noise: the monitor cannot correctly detect pressure pulsations in the cuff.
  • After every measurement that fails due to noise, the monitor tries to re-start measurement.
  • In addition to the discharge of power supplies, the described reasons increase the discomfort during monitoring and reduce the reliability of the results.

Therefore due attention should be paid to patient instruction before the monitoring starts.
